After the Rain, A Day We’d Want to Keep Forever

Tim & Andrew live in the United States, but they chose to return to Vietnam – a place they call their “roots” – to celebrate their wedding.

They shared with Olwen: “We’ve never lived here, but we’ve always felt that Vietnam is a deep part of who we are.”
For this special return, Olwen simply wished for them to live one truly Vietnamese day – eating bún bò, drinking cà phê cóc (street coffee), swimming at sunrise, and visiting a sacred place for a moment of quiet and prayer.

We imagined a sunny day. But the sky opened up instead – heavy rain from morning till evening, on the only day they were in Đà Nẵng.

What made us admire Tim & Andrew even more was how they stayed true to their spirit: joyful, relaxed, and fully present in every moment.
They still went to the beach, had breakfast as planned, and visited Mỹ Sơn – walking in the rain, holding hands, and laughing out loud.

For Olwen, this became one of our most unforgettable shoots. It was our first time photographing a same-sex couple, and it happened on a day so unexpected and full of rain.
But what remains more vivid than any image is the gentle love, the freedom, and the sincerity Tim & Andrew carried with them – no matter the weather, no matter what came their way.
